Change in Locking OASIS


As of January 2020, for the OASIS D1, CMS has eliminated the online validation tool that was used to validate OASIS. OASIS can no longer be locked within the Edit screen or from the Build OASIS screen in the assessment.  Instead, the OASIS must be Reviewed and Validated successfully before you can lock the record. Here are the steps for completing and locking an OASIS:

     1. Enter the OASIS data from the OASIS screen or within the visit assessment. 

A) From the OASIS screen, click the Finish + Verify button to view errors.

B) From the Visits/Assessments Build OASIS screen, click the Review and Verify All Answers button. 

C) Fix errors within the assessment and rebuild the OASIS, if needed.

     2. From Barnestorm Office or POC, click the OASIS button, select the OASIS you want to lock, and then click the Review + Validate button.  This process will either use the iQIES or the Barnestorm process - depending on how your agency has it setup.  This needs the internet to connect and complete, so you must be online to complete this step of the process.

Important Note: You'll need to upload the OASIS document right away.  Each time you select the Validate button it will override the XML document with the most recent OASIS you have selected.

     4. Once the OASIS has successfully been validated, a date will appear in the Validated column of the OASIS screen. 

     5. Select the OASIS and click the Lock button to prepare the record for transmission.  

** Use Reports > Oasis > 13.05 OASIS Tracking to find OASIS that have not been validated/locked yet.
